Wilpattu is defined by its villu lakes – natural circular water holes in the dry forest that attract wildlife throughout the day. Far fewer visitors than Yala and a very different atmosphere: dense dry forest, quiet lake reflections and a quality of photographic solitude that is increasingly rare. Leopard sightings are possible but not promised.
